An online news website recently reported that the Dubai Energy and Water Authority (DEWA) will be launching a scheme that allows solar-powered homes in Dubai to connect to DEWA’s grid. This move, along with other projects that push for clean energy production, is the city’s response to the growing need for green solutions.

It is a known fact that dirty and polluted sources of energy are affecting the environment and the general health of the public. Fossil fuel, for instance, is responsible for air pollution, climate change, and acid rain. As non-renewable matter, it also leads to increase in energy cost. However, this can change once solar power takes the lead in the production of energy.

The good news is that Dubai is not trailing behind in this aspect. In addition to the recent initiative from DEWA, the government-owned infrastructure company also announced that it will be building the world’s biggest solar power plant that is expected to produce an electricity of 1,000 megawatts (MW). Utilizing the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, it hopes to increase solar energy use to 75% by 2050.

Furthermore, 500 villas that are spread out over 500 residential clusters have already installed home solar power panels. Apart from the application of energy-saving appliances and materials, including solar water heaters and lighting, the villas are also recycling grey water and separating black and grey water for their irrigation system.

Dubai is currently ranked 10th in the global energy consumption list. Education, however, is still pertinent to change the mind-set of the different nationalities that populate the city when it comes to promoting clean energy. As a Dubai homeowner, you can start switching to this form of energy source today and reap the apparent benefits, which are:

Reduces Utility Bills

Home solar panels can save you a lot of money. Though you are expected to spend a substantial amount of money for this technology, the long-term benefit is remarkable as bills are predicted to decrease by 50 percent.

Saves The Environment

The best known fact about this mode of energy is that it will not run out anytime soon. As it gets electromagnetic radiation from the sun, solar power can be the best source for renewable energy. According to research, an average home using solar energy can offset 100,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide emission. With no greenhouse emission, it can also reduce our dependence for non-renewable energy that greatly affects the environment. Moreover, home solar energy can help conserve more than 16,000 gallons of water annually.

Increases Home Value

Outfitting your house with solar technology makes it marketable to say the least.  Not only will it increase the price tag of your home; environmentally-conscious homebuyers are also demanding for this type of property. As we move forward with the desire to rebuild our ecosystem, it therefore becomes a secure form of investment.

If you’re building a home soon, consider powering your property in Dubai with solar panels. You can ask the reliable agents of For Est Real Estate for information so you can control your energy production and at the same time contribute to a greener and cleaner world.
